A wedding reception is a celebration of your new life together. Whether your planning a destination wedding or in your own back yard, you can create the setting of your dreams.

CHOOSING A LOCATION FOR YOUR RECEIPTION...

Finding a perfect wedding location is one of the most difficult decisions to make. You need to consider availability, pricing, distance from the ceremony site, and the number of guests invited to your reception.

When looking for a reception location, you will need to ask a few questions...

* What time and dates are available?

* What is the size of the location?

* What is the number of guests allowed at the location?

* What is the rental fees, deposit, payment, sales tax, gratuities, cancellation, and insurance policy?

* What is the compensation for the cancellation by the reception location?

* How many hours does the fee include? Does this include set up and clean up times?

* Can you make any changes to the location?

* What are the music restrictions?

* Are there any site usage restrictions?

* Does the location include a dance floor, tents, tables, chairs, linens, tableware, glassware and lighting?

* What is the equipment provided?

* Does the location allow outside caterers or have a kitchen?

* Do you have to choose from the locations approved caterer list?

* Is there a cake cutting fee or a wine corking fee?

* What is the bar service and restrictions?

* Does the location have air conditioning?

* Are there any additional services provided by the location?

* Is there a room for the bride to change in?

* How many parking spaces are available for your guests?

* Does the location have handicap access?

MONEY SAVING TIPS AND IDEAS:

Start planning your reception early.

Have your wedding ceremony and reception in the same location.

Choose a naturally beautiful reception location that won't require alot of expensive decorations.

A private homes or a garden wedding can be more flexable with your time schedule.

Have your reception as close to the ceremony site as possible. If it's not possible keep your reception no more that 15 to 30 minutes from the ceremony site. Your guest will get bored and not want to drive the distance.

Start your reception within an hour of the ceremony. If your not able to start the reception within that time frame, have a cocktail hour or a mixer and serve some punch or cocktails.

Make sure your reception location has an air conditon and heating system. If your guest are uncomfortable they won't enjoy themselves and won't want to dance.
